Since February 2022, the Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners has proudly illuminated the indelible contributions and triumphs of Black people throughout history, not just nationally, but right here in our vibrant community.

Black History Month isn’t merely a commemoration; it’s a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of achievement, resilience, and cultural richness that pulse through the heart of Gadsden County. Every February, we come together to celebrate the legacies of our forefathers and foremothers, whose determination and brilliance paved the way for the thriving Black community we know today.

At the core of this celebration lies a fundamental mission: to ensure that every Gadsden County student embarks on a journey through Florida’s Black history, their eyes gleaming with newfound understanding and hearts swelling with pride. Through the County’s annual Black History Month Reception, the electrifying Black History Parade, and a multitude of engaging partnership programs, we weave the threads of the past into the vibrant fabric of the present, ensuring that future generations stand tall on the shoulders of those who came before.

This year, as we turn the page to another chapter in Gadsden County’s Black history saga, we extend a heartfelt invitation to you, our valued community partners, to join us in illuminating the path forward.

By supporting this vital initiative, you not only become an integral part of preserving our heritage, but also invest in the bright minds that will shape Gadsden County’s tomorrow.

Together, let’s paint a masterpiece of cultural awareness, educational enrichment, and community pride. Let’s make this Black History Month a celebration that echoes through the ages, a testament to the power of unity and the boundless potential that lies within each of us.
